Synopsis

Seesaw Movie Review Moviesda. Seesaw revolves around a seasoned police inspector, Mugilan (Natty), who takes on a puzzling murder case involving the death of a servant and the mysterious disappearance of a businessman and his wife. As Mugilan dives into the investigation, he unravels a tale through the fragmented testimonies of witnesses, leading to a series of blind alleys and half-truths.

Review

Strengths:

  • Natty’s Performance: As Inspector Mugilan, Natty brings gravitas to an otherwise lackluster script. His portrayal of a seasoned law enforcement officer is compelling, leveraging his imposing stature and intense presence.
  • Nishanth Russo: As Aadhavan, a troubled individual with bipolar disorder, Nishanth delivers a performance that captures the volatility of his character, even if the writing undermines its potential.
  • Atmosphere: The film’s darker moments and moody setup attempt to evoke intrigue, though they fall short of delivering a gripping experience.

Weaknesses:

  • Pacing Issues: The film’s narrative relies heavily on testimonies and recollections, creating a fragmented and lethargic viewing experience. The frequent cuts and choppy editing make it difficult to maintain engagement.
  • Underdeveloped Characters: Aadhavan’s arc, while central to the story, feels overblown and underexplored. The decision to highlight his mental instability without meaningful resolution exposes flaws in the script’s logic and structure.
  • Predictable and Uneventful Plot: The whodunit premise lacks originality, relying on overused tropes and failing to deliver the suspense or twists expected from the genre.
  • Pointless Musical Numbers: The songs feel out of place and add nothing to the narrative, disrupting the already disjointed pacing.
  • Missed Potential: The supporting characters, including Padine Kumar as Aadhavan’s wife, fail to leave a strong impression due to superficial writing.

Highlights

  • Natty’s Commanding Presence: A saving grace in a film otherwise devoid of memorable moments.
  • Dark Themes: While poorly executed, the exploration of mental health and moral ambiguity offers glimpses of potential.

Verdict

Seesaw attempts to blend a murder mystery with psychological drama but fails to deliver on either front. Despite competent performances by Natty and Nishanth Russo, the film’s fragmented narrative, uninspired plot, and uneven pacing make it a forgettable addition to the genre. It’s a swing and a miss, unlikely to resonate with audiences or leave a lasting impression.
