Sabdham Struggles to Maintain its Chilling Atmosphere
Sabdham reunites Aadhi and director Arivazhagan after Eeram, shifting its supernatural horror focus from water to sound. The film begins intriguingly, as paranormal investigator Ruben (Aadhi) probes mysterious deaths at a medical college, uncovering eerie connections to a skeptical doctor, Avanthika. The first half builds suspense effectively, culminating in a blackout sequence that lets unsettling noises take center stage. However, the second half loses steam, veering into predictable melodrama with clichéd villains, black magic, and last-minute reveals that feel rushed. While Aadhi delivers a committed performance, the film’s inconsistent writing, excessive background score, and subpar visual effects dull its impact, making Sabdham a horror thriller that only partially delivers on its promise.
