Revelations: A Twisted Tale of Faith and Madness
Yeon Sang-ho’s Revelations blends psychological thriller elements with the moral dilemmas of his earlier works, crafting a layered but uneven narrative. Pastor Sung Min-chan (Ryu Jun-yeol) grapples with personal betrayal, interpreting it as divine will, while a detective haunted by her sister’s murder and a delusional serial kidnapper complicate his crisis. As these fractured storylines intertwine, the film oscillates between gripping tension and convoluted execution. Adapted from Yeon’s own comic, Revelations carries a strong thematic foundation but stumbles through a needlessly complex setup. While its exploration of faith, justice, and madness intrigues, its uneven pacing keeps it from reaching its full potential.
